I haven’t been able to get this news out of my head all week. A computerized robot that can design robots? Specifically mimicking the process of evolution? Although it’s just a fringe geek story today, I really wonder if it’ll be a turning point in history some day. Thrilling and scary — once stuff like this can happen independently, robotic evolution and the development of AI will progress exponentially. All those sci-fi writers will be chanting “I told you so…” as humankind is sent off to ore mines on Mars.
