LOST Wrap [Updated]

LOST

Today is the last day of shooting for Season 4. And driving to work past Honolulu Harbor this morning, what should appear like a vision but the Freighter Kahana. She was docked at Kewalo Basin, where tell-tale trailers and crew trucks were gathering. But I had to do a double-take. She wasn’t the rusty, dirty vessel we’ve been seeing on “LOST.” She was painted and clean and looking good.

After?

LOST

UPDATE: Looks like the Kahana is getting a facelift, but separate from “LOST” production. There was a base camp with trailers and crew at the adjacent lot (behind Fisherman’s Wharf), but it looks like filming was taking place somewhere else nearby. I also spotted a second unit setting up at the downtown YWCA this afternoon, and that will probably be the last shoot of the season.

The prettifying argues that it will be the vehicle upon which the Oceanic Six arrive in Honolulu, or Papeete, or wherever, and the surviving captain wants his ship to look good.

Considering the percentage of the crew lost, and the other tragedies potentially in store for anyone on the freighter, do you think they’d have the means or time to repaint the ship before returning to civilization? I can see putting on a good face, but… I’m willing to bet the ship’s painter was an early casualty!

Grins. Hey, maybe the Smoke Monster wields a mighty paintbrush. ;)

Not Penny’s Boat. Is the Kahana still making its rounds along the Honolulu harbor?
