Bookmarks for August 22nd

When I’m not blogging, I’m browsing. Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on August 22nd:

  • Screentime per character and per episode in ‘LOST’ Season 4: CrazyLatin007 at The Fuselage: "I've been working on a little project for some time now. I've rewatched all episodes from 401 to 413, and I set up an excel workbook that notes when an actor entered a scene and when they left it. The sheet then calculates how many seconds the actor was on screen and adds up the total time per episode."
  • Beijing Olympics Stadium: A 360-degree panorama photo of Beijing Olympic Stadium taken about 30 min. before Men's 100m Final from the press area. You can really appreciate the hugeness of the venue, and chuckle at the other press photographers mugging for the camera.
  • Liliputing – Liliputer comparison chart: This database is designed to make it easy to compare current and upcoming liliputers. You can sort the list by clicking on any field (name, display, CPU, price, etc).
  • Fish Tale Has DNA Hook – Students Find Bad Labels: A piece of sushi sold as the luxury treat white tuna turned out to be Mozambique tilapia, a much cheaper fish that is often raised by farming. Roe supposedly from flying fish was actually from smelt. Seven of nine samples that were called red snapper were mislabeled, and they turned out to be anything from Atlantic cod to Acadian redfish, an endangered species.
