Kanu Hawaii, in partnership with The Institute for Human Services and other groups, is coordinating a “Day of Living Aloha” today. The online social network — focused on sustainable living, environmentalism, and “island style activism” — is calling upon people across all the islands to volunteer today to improve our communities.
At Kuhio Park Terrace, over 50 Kanu Hawaii volunteers will work side-by-side with public housing residents and IHS staffers and supporters to improve the area with painting, weedwacking, cleaning and planting. Other volunteers will work with mothers and children at a homeless shelter in Manoa. On the Big Island, Kanu Hawaii members will work with public housing residents to help fix affordable units so that new families can move in.

Thanks for posting Ryan. We’ll have a recap on the Kanu site soon. Hundreds of volunteers turned out!
