Free Museum Admission on Saturday

Saturday brings the sixth annual “Museum Day” across the country, in which hundreds of museums across the country offer free admission to re-introduce the public to their collections. This year, there are nine participating museums in Hawaii:

Because the UH Art Gallery is closed on Saturdays, it will observe “Museum Day” on Sunday, instead. ‘Iolani Palace and Bailey House are new additions compared to last year, but unlike last year, neither Hawaii Theatre nor the Hawaii State Art Museum are participating.

In order to take advantage of “Museum Day,” you need to register online to get your ticket (good for admission for two people). You’ll need to print and bring your ticket with you to the museum of your choice.

That is awesome. You know what excites me is how many of these are located on Honolulu. Not sure where we will be living yet once we get to the island, but it doesn’t matter; Honolulu is not too far away! I am sure my head will spin when I get to the island and try to figure out what to do first. I love going to places like this, seeing new things, and checking out exhibits featuring items from artists that I have never heard of before.

I am really keen on contemporary art, and have traveled the world visiting contemporary museums and art galleries. I can’t wait to add these to my list. Great collection there, thanks for sharing!
