3-D Printing at RAPID Technology

RAPID Technology is a Honolulu-based 3-D printing and rapid prototyping firm. With 3-D printers by Z Corporation, the company offers designers, architects, engineers, and even artists a fast and intuitive way to visualize and interact with their work.

Last September, RAPID Technology Chief Operating Officer Russ Ogi joined us on Bytemarks Cafe on Hawaii Public Radio to talk about his company and a partnership with the Hawaii state Department of Education.

But a lot has happened since then.

Yesterday, Ogi hosted the Bytemarks Group monthly geek lunch at RAPID’s office downtown. We got a first-hand — and hands-on — overview of the company, its equipment, and the various applications of 3-D printing technology.

We then walked down to Louis Pohl Gallery in Chinatown. There we wandered an exhibit of the more imaginitive side of 3-D printing, where Ogi showed off some of his creations and collaborations with other artists.

Great technology. I wonder how we could implement that in real estate marketing. I’ll give them a call and see.
