    So because these people are all one race, they aren’t diverse in any way? The panel is never held out to be racially diverse, is it?

    It is, if it’s a editorial panel for a newspaper in Hawaii. No Asians? No Hawaiians? And seemingly no one under the age of fifty? Come on, now.

    You’re right that it’s not diverse in those senses, but my point, pedantic though it certainly was, is that they never qualified what *kind* of diversity was embodied in that particular panel. That’s all. It seems that diversity of career and education was the key here, race and age were not considerations.
