Startup Weekend, Island Style

A bunch of geeks. An apartment. And 48 hours. Sid Savara and Shawn Drost are putting out the call to web developers, programmers, designers, and business gurus to imagine, plan, build, and launch an internet startup in one weekend.  Participants will come together on Friday, Sept. 19, and will come out with… something by sundown on Sunday.

“The current venue is my apartment – located near Ala Moana (hopefully reasonably central), and with my roommates on board we can use the whole three-bedroom place,” Sid explains. “I unfortunately do lack some basic necessities, but we will absolutely have Wi-Fi and a water cooler!”

Says Shawn: “We’ll learn a ton and argue about the internet and draw stuff on whiteboards. In general, I expect geeky fun.”

The local event is inspired by, but emphatically not affiliated with, Andrew Hyde’s “Startup Weekend” series, which hosts entrepreneurs and developers in other cities.
