WordPress with Miraz Jordan

Miraz JordanMiraz Jordan — a writer, educator and explainer based in Wellington, New Zealand — will be in Honolulu to lead three noncredit courses on WordPress next weekend for the Pacific New Media program at UH.

Jordan co-authored the “WordPress 2 Visual Quickstart Guide” and is part of the organizing committee for “Webstock,” a five-day conference on design, web development, content and community.

Saturday morning (Dec. 6) brings “WordPress Explorer,” an introductory course that will end with participants launching their first WordPress-powered website. “WordPress Adventurer” picks up in the afternoon with more advanced topics, including plugins and themes.

WordPress Intrepid” is the all-day Sunday (Dec. 7) session, which builds upon the topics covered on Saturday but delves even deeper into PHP and MySQL databases, covering customizations and backups.

The Saturday workshops cost $75 each, and Sunday’s program costs $135. All workshops will be held in the Manoa MultiMedia Lab (Sakamaki Hall Room C104).

For more information or to register, call (808) 956-8400 or visit the Pacific New Media site.

Thanks so much for mentioning the courses here. I’m hoping to see a great bunch of participants next weekend. :-)

This is my first trip to Hawai’i – and I’m totally looking forward to it.
