Leslie Wilcox Tribute

After a 34-year career in local television news, veteran reporter and anchor Leslie Wilcox is moving behind the scenes and taking the reigns at PBS Hawaii, Hawaii’s public television station headquartered in Manoa.

Coworker and friend Ron Mizutani produced a sweet, five-minute tribute to Leslie’s impressive career in local news, beginning with her days at KGMB under Bob Sevey and moving on to KHON. It features archive clips from both stations, plus messages from Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hanneman, Peter Carlisle, Danny Kaleikini, Emme Tomimbang, and of course, Joe Moore. I uploaded it to YouTube last night, but KHON has since posted its official version here.

KHON has also posted Leslie’s farewell message video and transcript on its website. “I am on my way to explore exciting new possibilities at PBS Hawaii,” Leslie said. “And I’m taking splendid memories and relationships with me.”

Aloha, Leslie, and hana hou! I know you’ll do great things at PBS Hawaii.
