Bookmarks for December 3rd

When I’m not blogging, I’m browsing. Here are sites and pages that I bookmarked on December 3rd:

  • Submillimetre Eagle Eyes On Mauna Kea: Three observatories on Mauna Kea have come together to form the world's most powerful facility for detailed submillimetre imaging.
  • Hawaii Endorses Plan for Electric Cars: By using existing electric car technologies, coupled with an Internet-connected web of tens of thousands of recharging stations, Better Place L.L.C. of Palo Alto, Calif. believes it will make all-electric vehicles feasible.
  • Insects being released to attack gall wasps: A tiny insect that attacks the Erythrina gall wasp that has devastated Hawaii's wiliwili trees is being released in the islands by the state Department of Agriculture in an effort to prevent further decimation of the native wiliwili.
  • Big Island could take lead in space projects: The Big Island may become the center of the universe for U.S. space projects. At least that is the vision of the director of a space research program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
