PBS Hawaii Adds Blog, Message Board

It’s only been a few weeks since Leslie Wilcox started blogging at PBS Hawaii, but the local public television station is already pushing even further into the great conversation on the web. “Digital Dialog” is a new blog focused on PBS Hawaii’s transition from analog to digital television, which will unfold over the next 15 months. Blogger Steve Komori, PBS Hawaii’s VP of Content Delivery, hopes his blog will allow viewers to ask questions and to get answers straight from the source. “Let me know what your concerns are,” Komori writes. “Like, what type of television should I buy? When will I see high definition programming from PBS Hawaii? How do I get your digital signal?”

Perhaps more interestingly, PBS Hawaii has also opened up a message board for viewers to discuss programs and interact directly with each other. The Kama’ilio Discussion Forum is aimed at encouraging “discussion of key issues, events and ideas that affect life in our Hawaiian islands and beyond.”

“Kama’ilio” is one way to say “conversation” in Hawaiian, notes the station… and that’s what they’re hoping will flourish online.
